I love a maternity session with a backstory. It makes for much more sentimental pictures. Tanya’s session was like a trip down nostalgia lane. Besides the fact that she and her husband are so adorable and loving of one another together, they really had a motif in mind for their photos in order to tell their tale.
This session took place all around the West Village. I photograph all over New York City and the West Village is definitely one of my favorite areas for pictures. There’s no shortage of beautiful architecture and quirky streets.
Anyway, back to the backstory. Tanya and her husband wanted to photograph the maternity session in all the areas that were monumental to their tale. They led me around the area through chapters of their life together. The photos in front of the restaurant- that was their favorite restaurant where they had their first date. So sweet! The photos at the book store- that’s where they did their pictures for their ‘save the date’. How cute is that? The photos at the bar- you guessed it!
In the end, all the photos had a special meaning to them and I’m honored that I had the opportunity to document this next chapter in their story together. Who knows, maybe when the baby arrives, they’ll have another cute idea of where to have their photos taken.
