What can you expect from a family photoshoot with katie rain photography?
We’ll meet at our location, whether it’s an iconic city landmark or the cozy comfort of your own home. Throughout the session, I’ll gently guide and pose you so you’ll never feel awkward or unsure. My goal is to make you feel relaxed, natural, and fully present with your family.
The session will likely fly by and it’s completely normal to leave wondering if the kids were too wild or if we captured anything good. (Spoiler: we did!) It’s one of my favorite things to surprise parents with a gallery full of joy, connection, and truly beautiful moments.
After the session, you’ll receive a beautiful online gallery filled with all your favorite images. From there, you can easily download your photos or conveniently order prints and products directly through the site.

When should we book our photoshoot?
The sooner, the better. I take a limited number of sessions each month to ensure a thoughtful, unhurried experience for every family. That said, I always do my best to accommodate everyone when possible, and last minute openings do occasionally pop up due to schedule changes or cancellations. If you have your heart set on a specific timeframe, especially during the fall months of September through November when weekends tend to book well in advance, I recommend reaching out early to secure your spot.
What are your favorite locations?
I have a curated list of favorite locations on the website under the Locations tab, all chosen for beautiful backdrops and good lighting. I’m also happy to recommend the best option based on the time of day, season, and the type of light that will photograph best during your session. I always encourage families to consider what will feel best for their children too. If they’re most comfortable at home, in-home sessions are a wonderful option. Ultimately, I can make any location look great and will help guide you to what works best for your family.
Can you help us with wardrobe?
Yes, absolutely. I love helping families select clothing for their photoshoot. Once your session is booked, you’ll receive my cell number so you can text me outfit ideas, photos, or links. Together, we’ll choose options that photograph beautifully and feel like you on your best day.

03. Photoshoot day!
Your password protected gallery will be sent to your email inbox 2 weeks after our session. You will also receive a slideshow in your text messages, which is a great way to share your photos with friends and family.
04. Gallery delivery
Please print your photos and get them off your phones! There is a very convenient full online store attached to your gallery, which means ordering prints and products is easier than ever! Please inquire for custom albums and help with ordering. Enjoy your photos!

You will receive your finished online gallery within 2 weeks of the session date.
Will I receive the images?
I require a deposit when you book your session. That deposit will hold your date on my calendar and will be applied to your total balance due.
How can we secure our date?
If the forecast is predicting rain, we can either move your photoshoot indoors at your home or reschedule to another date.
What happens if the weather is bad?
I do! I offer a discounted rate for repeat clients and any new client who has been referred by a friend.
